rcp pushes socio-political games through cooperation with Paintbucket Games

Munich, August 19, 2022 – remote control productions is supporting the search for a publishing partner for the recently announced game The Darkest Files by renowned Berlin based developer Paintbucket Games. In the game the player works for famous prosecutor Fritz Bauer helping to uncover the crimes of former Nazis kept under the rug in a post World War II Germany. With gay Bauer being a victim of homophobia back in his time the studio continues on its mission to create games as statements not only against facism, but also against every other form of hate and discrimination –  socio-political topics also prevalent in Paintbucket’s other releases like Through the Darkest of Times and Beholder 3.

In the same spirit rcp has publicly positioned itself very clearly in the past on political and social issues like the ongoing war in Ukraine. Taking a clear stance and being very outspoken about these issues is of utmost importance to Hendrik Lesser. As CEO of rcp and in his role as the president of the European Game Developer Federation (EGDF) he has also been pushing for games as a medium to transport important political and social messages for a long time. With Paintbucket Games rcp has found a partner to work on projects picking up these important topics and bringing them to the gaming community.

“Rcp is built on a strong set of values. From our multicultural staff to our green office initiative to supporting refugees we are very active. So it should come to no surprise that we want to work with studios that pick up on these important topics and values in their games”, says Lesser. “Games can be way more than just entertainment and can transmit social and political messages with a lot of impact. With games being THE culture technique of this century I strongly believe that our industry needs to deal with these important issues and find its own language to do so. I am super excited to do this together with Paintbucket!”

For interested publishers rcp’s business development team will present The Darkest Files at Gamescom from 24.08. to 28.08. Reach out to biz@r-control.de for more information or to schedule your appointment.

“We are very excited about our new game and happy to have rcp working with us. Not only because of their business expertise but also because we share the same values”, says Paintbucket Art Director and Co-CEO Sebastian St. Schulz. “Yes, and with their help we are looking forward to bringing The Darkest Files to as many people as possible to remind everybody about the importance of actively dealing with and learning from the past”, adds Jörg Friedrich, Co-CEO of Paintbucket Games.
